Interface bonding coefficient: s is assigned to the bottom boundary of each finite layer and is passed directly to the OpenPave multilayer elastic solver. In OpenPave, s = 1.00 activates the perfectly bonded interface formulation, while s < 1.00 activates the imperfect-bonding formulation. The coefficient is a numerical interface parameter used directly in the OpenPave equations and should not be interpreted as a percentage of bond. SSIPav permits 0.01 ≤ s ≤ 1.00; the lower limit is an SSIPav safeguard that excludes s = 0, for which the OpenPave formulation contains division by the interface coefficient. SSIPav also checks that the calculated stress and strain responses remain finite for the current pavement structure, loading and evaluation locations.
